Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-07
1. Introduction
AudioMark is designed to operate entirely offline and respect user privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data is (and is not) collected, how it is handled, and your rights as a user.
2. No Personal Data Collection (App)
The AudioMark Android app does not collect, transmit, or share personal data to external servers.
There is no cloud account, no in-app analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind in the app itself.
2b. Website Analytics
This website (audiomark.biz) uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects aggregated, anonymous usage data such as page views, referral sources, and device information. No personally identifiable information is collected without your consent.
See Cookies & Tracking below for details on opting in or out.
2c. Google Play Console (Crash & Performance Reporting)
AudioMark is distributed via Google Play Store. Google Play Console automatically collects crash reports, performance data, and device information to help improve the app's stability and performance. This data is collected and managed by Google according to Google's Privacy Policy.
Users cannot opt out of this data collection, as it is a requirement of distributing apps on Google Play.
3. Data Stored Locally
All data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it (unless you explicitly use the SMB export feature). This includes:
- Audio files (copied into private app storage on import)
- Markers (timestamps, notes, tags, color)
- Playback settings and preferences
- Playback position (for resume)
- LUFS loudness measurements
- Project structure
No full timestamps (date/time) are stored in the local database, cache files, or exported metadata. This minimises the risk of sensitive temporal information being exposed.
4. Audio Files
- AudioMark may copy imported audio files into its private app storage.
- Original files are not modified.
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to use the audio files you import.
- The app does not upload files to any server.
5. Recordings
AudioMark can record audio using the device microphone.
- Recordings are stored locally in app-private storage.
- The app does not transmit recorded audio.
- You are solely responsible for obtaining any required consent from third parties before recording.
6. Permissions
AudioMark requests only the minimum permissions required:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Audio recording (only when you use the record feature) |
| Audio / media files | Import audio files from device storage |
| Local network | SMB file sharing (only when you initiate an import/export) |
| Foreground service | Background audio playback (notification player controls) |
No permission is used for tracking, advertising, or data collection.
7. Network Features
Some optional features may use the local network (e.g., SMB file sharing):
- Network access is initiated only by the user
- All network activity is limited to the local network
- No data is sent over the internet
- Only guest/anonymous SMB access is used (no credentials stored)
8. Third-Party Services
AudioMark does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
The app contains no tracking code or advertising SDKs.
AudioMark uses the following open-source libraries, all of which operate locally:
- Jetpack Compose / Material 3 — UI framework
- Media3 (ExoPlayer) — Audio playback
- Room — Local database
- Hilt — Dependency injection
- DataStore — Preferences storage
- smbj (Hierynomus) — SMB/CIFS file sharing
- TarsosDSP — Audio analysis (LUFS, peak)
None of these libraries transmit data externally.
9. Data Security
While AudioMark keeps data offline:
- Users are responsible for backing up their audio files
- The developer cannot guarantee against accidental loss of files stored on the device
- Exported data (ZIP, SMB) contains only what the user explicitly chooses to export
10. Children
AudioMark is intended for users 13 years and older. Parents or guardians should supervise younger users.
11. Changes to Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The most recent version is always included in the application and indicated by the "Last updated" date.
12. Contact
